On July 4th Mark was taken to the emergency room with pain so horrific that he was unable to walk.   The ER sent him home with pain meds stating that he was just having common back issues.   Mark continued to experience an incredible amount of pain which caused him to lose all movement in his lower extremities.  The following day he was unable to walk and was still experiencing severe pain.  He was brought back to the ER and after an MRI was done, within hours he was having emergency surgery.   A laminectomy and discectomy was performed on his spine.  But instead of going home to heal, Mark had a rare  complication called CES.   What we thought was going to be a few days in the hospital has turned into the fight of Mark’s life.

Mark is now battling (CES) Cauda Equina Syndrome.  CES is a medical emergency if surgery is not performed immediately.  Patient’s can lose partial or all function below their waist.  Mark is now living in an in-patient rehabilitation hospital battling to get feeling back in his glutes and legs and fighting to walk and be independent again.

Mark is a self-employed family man /hair stylist / color specialist and was an Olympic soccer player that played pro both in and out of the states for many years.   He is married to Suzanne with four boys at home.  Marc and his sweet family is in need of support right now.   The timing of this medical emergency  occurred  just as Mark was getting back to work due to the mandatory closing of salons due to COVID-19.  This has created even more of a financial hardship for his little family.
