Help us pay for Mark’s funeral expenses

We are flabbergasted by the response we have received and cannot wrap our heads around the support. We have raised the target, as suggested, but honestly we’re just elated to have made enough for the funeral director fees.

Everything else going forward is helping us get back to South Africa to spread his ashes in the same place we spread his mother’s ashes. Thank you eternally. We have so much love for you and will remember each and every one of you always.

We are just so overwhelmed and touched by the outpouring of support - from people we know, to random strangers on the internet. We cannot thank you enough for your donations, time and love. Upon suggestions from others, we have increased the goal to £3000 - this is to include an actual memorial service and possibly help us get back to South Africa to celebrate my dad’s life with the rest of our family. Again, please do not feel obligated to donate, as we have reached our original goal and everything else is just extra help. Thank you, from the very depths of our souls.

My name is Dani and I have created this GoFundMe on behalf of my family.

My family has never been the type to ask others for help. We’ve always been a strong team that figures things out as a unit, but we simply cannot afford to do that this time.

My dad, Mark, passed away a little over a week ago. It was incredibly sudden, and knocked the wind out of all of us. To be honest, it still doesn’t feel real and I’m not sure it ever will. He was the glue that held us together, he made us who we are, and he worked so hard his entire life to get us through a lot of tough times.

He was due to start a new job in April, but because he hadn’t started it yet, and because we had just emigrated from South Africa, he had no life policy or funds that would come through to us following his passing. This means we are unfortunately struggling to find the money to pay for his cremation and the funeral director’s services.

We are reaching out to anybody willing to listen, and asking from the bottom of our hearts for help. We want to get him cremated and bring him home to South Africa to say our goodbyes, but we can’t do that without your help.

We have put the goal amount as £1800, as that is what the funeral director, T.S. Keggen & Son, has quoted us. Any help at all would be appreciated and we would be eternally grateful, but please don’t feel pressured.
