As many of you know, Mark Webb, brother, husband, son, and friend to so many, was in a severe accident on September 18th, when a roof collapsed underneath him causing him to fall one story to a cement floor. Thankfully his wife Belinda was home and a call was placed for an emergency medical response. He was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Redding, California where they placed him in ICU while they performed CT and MRI scan to diagnose his condition. It was determined that he had internal bleeding and a severe burst fracture to his 3rd Lumbar vertebrae with bone splinters in his spinal cord. He experienced extreme pain and numbness throughout his lower body.
Several days later he underwent spinal surgery to gain access to the spinal cord in order to:
1. decompress L2, L3 and L4;
2. remove the bone on the backside of the L3 vertebra
remove bone fragments from the spinal cord;
3. fuse together L2, L3, and L4 with rods and screws;
4. and finally, bone and stem cells were inserted into the area for stabilization.
To the amazement of everyone, Mark got up and walked the very next day with the help of a walker and torso “clam shell” brace. The doctors said that it was a miracle that he was even able to walk at all.
Mark’s medical team expects it will take up to one year for Mark to complete his rehabilitation.
As you can imagine, this has put an undue burden on both Mark and Belinda.
As we all pray for Mark’s healing during the rehabilitation process, Belinda and family are very appreciative of all the love, prayers and support that is being received. As Mark’s sister I have decided to setup a donation campaign to help them in what likely will be a difficult and significant financial road ahead. Please join with me in supporting Mark and Belinda as they navigate through this difficult time. Your donations and support are greatly appreciated.
Thank you and God bless.
With much appreciation,
Mark’s sister, Janet Lewis
