Our longtime friend and fellow musher, Mark Stephens, is facing a serious health challenge. Mark and Debra Su have given their entire existence to their canines, denying themselves luxuries to live life on their own terms with generations of sled dogs and show prospects. Always sharing of their time and knowledge, they have touched countless lives. Mark has been a mentor too many, as has his wife.

A spring and summer of declining strength and a worrying inability to take nutrition led to the emergency room in Canon City, and from there a ride to Colorado Springs for testing and diagnostics. The results are staggering – advanced lung cancer. Today Mark is home, as they regroup for the future and the fight ahead.

Now, with medical costs looming on the horizon, we humbly asked for help for these people of meager means. Government programs only cover so much, and without the ability to work, income will dry up.
