Mark Steen and Family
Hi, my name is Connor Steen, and as most of you know - my dad, Mark, suffered a massive heart attack Friday night (06/23) at the Husets Speedway. He was instantly transported to the Avera heart hospital in Sioux Falls, SD where he underwent an immediate procedure as his main artery was about 100% blocked.
Progress:
- A stent was placed as well as an impeller. The impeller has since been taken out, which is fantastic news. He was also sedated and intubated up until Monday (06/27) but is now awake, talking, and even taking short walks with the nurses.
Recovery:
- Thankfully, Mark is as tough as it gets. The progress that he has made is amazing and our family couldn't be happier that he is recovering, doing his best, and most importantly, alive. With that being said, he is still currently in the hospital, and after being discharged he will be out of work for a month or more to follow. We are asking for your help at this time so that we as a family can support Mark through his treatment, and recovery as well as ease some of the financial pressure.
Our family greatly supports all of the prayers, thoughts, kind words, texts, phone calls, and all of the endless support we have received from everybody so far. We truly believe it is all of that combined each day that has kept us, and Mark, moving forward.
My dad is not somebody who asks for help, so I'll probably need my own fundraiser once he finds out this has been made. If it were up to him and Dot, they wouldn't ask for anything - but the medical bills will rapidly accumulate and that is the last thing we want them to worry about when he gets out of the hospital and continues to recover.
Every donation will help him get back on his feet and focus on healing.
