Mark Soberano Cardiac Microvascular Project
Donation protected
As many of you may know I have been blessed with Complex Cardiac Microvascular Disease. It was diagnosed by Dr. Tim Henry MD a world leader in the research of Refractory Angina. Since my Cardiac Arrest at my home in 2016, I have had 15 cardiac catheterizations. I have been to three different hospital systems. I currently have had 4 cardiac stents placed and a bypass of my LAD (the widow maker). All of my epicardial vessel are patent but what is causing my debilitating angina is the microvessels of my ventricular heart muscle. I am unable to walk 75 feet without intense shortness of breath, walk up a flight of steps or a slight incline without chest pain. I need to take nitroglycerin 5 times a day to do my daily tasks around the house. I am officially on disability.
There currently is no cure no medication or treatment for my this disease. Currently I am enrolled in PHASE 1 FDA STUDY for Zylocor. They have a Gene Therapy that uses VEG F that is injectable. It must be done in direct visualization. It will require Dr. Geoffrey Answini to do a thoracotomy and direct injection into the ventricles of my heart. I will be hospitalized for about 4 days depending on my course treatment. I will have many follow up visits over the first 3 postoperative months. I will be continually followed by the Heart and Vascular Institute of the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
I thank God for my wife Sarah who is a NICU Nurse at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. She is able to make up some of what my salary and health benefits were as a CRNA (Nurse Anesthetist) at Cincinnati Children's was. She also mothers our 7 children since I usually an to tired to do that when she is home. She has taken all of her paid time off that she has banked. Therefore when she takes off for my health or the health of our children she does not get paid. This has created quite a hardship for our family. We are dipping into our retirement savings. This has not been easy on our budget for the future of our family. We have made many sacrifices and asked schools for financial assistance. So far God has been good and we have been blessed with enough to make things happen. Without any more PTO we will urgently need even more assistance.
We will be able to use your donations to make all our ends meet, and recuperate lost pay from my time in the hospital and recovery. I also pledge that some of any funds raised will go to the The Angiogenisus Project, and The Linder Research Center at The Christ Hospital.
I know that there are many hardships in the world today. I promise that I will use this any blessings for the good of our world. I will be the best steward of any money I may receive.
