Mark Nesbitt - Mr Newark Town

Hello Everyone,

As many of you know, we have recently been left completely devastated by the death of our irreplaceable friend and football coach, Mark Nesbitt.

Mark was the bedrock of a grassroots volunteer, he stopped at nothing to pass on his enthusiasm and zest for football to the hundreds of youngsters and young adults he nurtured and trained.

Mark was well known on the local football scene and did so much for the game, most recently to shape the future of girls’ football in the area and beyond.

He was also a champion fisherman and loved spending whatever free time he had left after his football commitments with his dad Jim and his children, Ryan, Jennifer & Emily by the river.

Mark was only 42 and although he lived and breathed football, he had so much more to give to this world.

His knowledge, enthusiasm, dedication and brilliant sense of humour will be so sadly missed by everyone that knew him.

As we try to come to terms with the massive loss we are all feeling at the club, our hearts are breaking for Mark's children. They were his shining lights and he was incredibly proud of them all.

As we have mentioned on our social media platforms, we have been overwhelmed by the sheer amount of messages and tributes we, as well as Mark's immediate family, have received.

At this incredibly difficult time, we have, as a club, pledged wholeheartedly to support Mark's family by means of fundraising for his funeral and also making the necessary arrangements to assist them in any way we can.

To help us deliver that promise we are now reaching out to anyone that is able to make a financial contribution, whatever the amount, so that we can give Mark the send-off that he so very much deserves.

We are setting ourselves an ambitious target, but we are hoping to achieve it so that it takes away any extra worry from the family.

We will miss Mark so very much and this is the least we can do to repay him for everything he did for the beautiful game.
