This newest campaign for the Mark L. Madrid Scholarships, established in 2013, is in memoriam to my Dad, Marcos G. Madrid, Jr., who passed away on July 29, 2020, after a valiant battle vs. COVID-19.
Please refer here for Dad's obituary. I will be selecting Latinx college leaders pursuing welding, as my Dad owned his welding business for over 40 years. Dad's legendary grit, resilience and ganas paved a way for me and my education and ultimately where I am today. It is my honor to name this year's 2020 recipients the Marcos Madrid, Jr. Scholars. Additionally, I will mentor and ultimately sponsors these individuals for a lifetime.
Mark Madrid , a 1995 honors graduate from the University of Texas at Austin and a 2014 honors Master of Nonprofit Administration (MNA) graduate from the University of Notre Dame is "paying it forward" with the Mark L. Madrid scholarships, awarded to deserving high achieving undergraduate and/or graduate Hispanic students across the United States. This is the 8th year of the Mark L. Madrid Scholarships.
This year--because of your generosity, we will achieve a significant milestone and surpass the 25 recipients of this award. 100% of proceeds go to the students.
This distinct scholarship, a servant heart gesture, will fuel the business minds of our most treasured asset, OUR STUDENTS.
