My name is Cathryn Kibby, the wife and life partner of Mark Kibby. As the first year of his passing approaches, I want to honor him by continuing the scholarship that was started in his name last year. The Mark Kibby Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to help children Mark touched through his passion and love for teaching and shaping the lives of young children. My hope is to send at least two children from The Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Elementary School, of which Mark was Assistant Principal, to the Hartford County 4H Camp this summer. AAEE is the school that Mark poured his heart and soul into, where he built relationships with students that impacted them and will last a lifetime. The recipients of this scholarship will be children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience the great outdoors and sense of community and belonging that camp offers. The recipients will experience a traditional, co-ed sleepaway camp that offers horseback riding lessons, archery, canoeing, low ropes course, tennis, arts and crafts and more.
Last year the scholarship was granted to a 4th grader that Mark had developed a close relationship with. He was able to attend camp for two weeks. Through this scholarship this young man was able to not only experience some of the things Mark loved, like outdoor adventures and activities while also allowing for the opportunity to build relationships and memories to last a lifetime.
My hope is that Mark's spirit will continue to make a difference in others lives, for a long time to come. The entire Kibby family would be so incredibly grateful to anyone that might wish to donate to the Mark Kibby Scholarship Fund.
