Mark Keefe - Rehabilitation therapy

Hi, my name is Natasha and I am fundraising for my husband Mark Keefe.

 

Mark is a London Firefighter and in November 2020 he was running on a treadmill in the gym when he started to feel unwell, he collapsed shortly after and was rushed to hospital suffering a major brain hemorrhage. He immediately received surgery to evacuate the bleed and he spent the first 2 months post surgery in a coma in hospital.

 

On 4th February 2021 Mark was transferred to Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability where he was receiving intense rehabilitation. Although Mark has made some progress there, he still has a long road to recovery.

 

I have set up this page as we have received so many offers of all kinds of help since it happened and we've not been in a position to accept them, but now this is the time Mark needs the help so I am reaching out.  Until now, Mark has been funded to receive therapy but we have just been informed that funding is extremely limited for therapy. His funding for his care IS being paid for so this is purely for anyone who would like to help to fund additional much needed therapy which will include, speech and language, occupational health and Physio - which Mark desperately needs to keep his body moving.

 

For now, Mark spends 90% of his day in bed so he needs this therapy. Unfortunately because of issues with his feeding tube which provides the majority of his hydration, nutrition and medication, he needs to remain in a hospital setting.

 

I hope you can help me to maximise his chances of recovery, all money received will go towards privately funding all therapy and equipment he will need.

 

Along with me, his wife, he has 3 gorgeous young children that he dotes on - we all need their daddy to get better.

We will now start to look at alternative therapy for Mark made possible by everyone's generosity.  The ultimate goal is to get Mark home and continuing rehabilitation.
