In memory of Mark Howe

It is with great sadness that Mark Howe passed away on April 1st 2022.
Mark was a truly inspirational person and loved Son to Andy and Ilse, and a hero to his Older Brother Bob, he was everyone’s friend and loved by all. Our hearts are broken to lose this beautiful soul so young. As Mark’s family deals with the shock of losing him, they also have to deal with the burden of funeral costs. Mark due to the age he first went into hospital had no insurance nor an estate to carry the brunt of such a cost.
We hope that people who knew Mark will see it in their hearts to consider making a donation towards his Celebration of Life, so there will be a send off fitting of the man!
Mark’s death was a ‘Bolt from the blue’ as described by the medical professionals. The day before his death his parents visited him at the Royal hospital for neuro disability and he was full of life and his humour was sparkling as was his smile. At around 5am however tragedy struck where a catastrophic bleed on Mark’s brain left irreversible damage.
He passed peacefully away surrounded by his Family and many friends.
Mark was to many a superhero and his determination and fight will never be surpassed.
Aged 23 he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and on 28th February at St Georges Hospital he entered the operating theatre for the first of what became many surgeries. The surgery was 19 hours in total and in the early hours of march the 1st he returned to the ICU ward, Mark bounced back from surgery magnificently and was full of life in the days that followed until tragically he contracted bacterial meningitis, he was left in a coma for weeks and the outlook at this point was bad. On the afternoon of July 6th 2007 consultants said that Mark’s brain was too damaged to continue the fight and that it would be the kindest thing to not intervene any more medically and that we should allow him to die. It was explained then by Marks family to the doctors that they didn’t know Mark that well and he as the most stubborn person they knew would only do what he wanted to do and when he wanted to do it!! So here it started he began day by day to prove the professionals wrong, not just by surviving but by slowly improving. His Eyes opened and they were followed shortly by his smile! This smile slowly but steadily grew and grew and the fight Mark showed was incredible as the odds one by one were not just beaten but turned on their heads! In March of 2008 Mark moved to the Royal Hospital of Neuro disability. It was from here that the fight and the miracles really started to happen. Starting with Mark finding his voice via Computer then by use of a speaking valve. His personality had not dwindled and his heart well it had grown it was bigger than before and he made sure there was room in it for everyone.
Mark Howe simple was loved by everyone and will be missed by the world!
Thank you
