Mark Hillyard - A Valued Teammate, Friend, and Friend.

We are reaching out to support a dear friend, colleague, and valued member of the Bidell Gas Compression family, Mark Hillyard, as he faces one of the greatest challenges of his life.
Recently, Mark was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare and complex form of blood cancer that affects plasma cells in the bone marrow. These cells are essential to the body’s immune system, and when they become cancerous, they can lead to a range of serious complications, including bone pain, anemia, kidney problems, and a weakened immune response. While there have been advances in treatment, Multiple Myeloma is a lifelong condition that currently has no cure, and managing it requires ongoing care, treatments like chemotherapy and stem cell transplants, and a strong support system.
Despite this life-altering diagnosis, Mark has remained remarkably positive. He continues to take each day in stride, with quiet courage and the same work ethic, humility, and kindness that he has always brought to our team.
Mark’s journey with Bidell began in October 2014, when he joined the Skid Fabrication Department. It didn’t take long for everyone to notice the strength of his character and the pride he took in his work. Mark quickly became a go-to team member, someone who not only got the job done but uplifted those around him. In November 2021, Mark stepped into the role of Lead Hand, where he helped train and mentor newer team members. His leadership was rooted in patience, integrity, and a relentless commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency, values that continue to shape our department’s success today.
For many of us at Bidell, Mark is more than just a coworker, he’s a friend, a mentor, and a constant source of steady energy. He’s been there for us, and now it’s our turn to be there for him.
As Mark begins treatment, he faces not just physical and emotional challenges, but financial ones as well. We’ve created this GoFundMe to help ease some of that burden, to cover medical expenses, transportation to appointments, and day-to-day costs that can quickly add up. Any amount you’re able to give will go directly to Mark and his family during this difficult time.
We know Mark would never ask for help himself, which is why we, his work family and close friends, are stepping in to ask on his behalf. Even if you’re not able to contribute financially, sharing this page and sending messages of encouragement means the world.
Let’s come together and show Mark how much he means to all of us. He’s always been the kind of person who shows up for others, now we have the chance to show up for him.
With heartfelt thanks,
The Bidell Gas Compression Team
