Hello Everyone, 

My name is Mark Goins. I was born 48 years ago in Pine Bluff Arkansas. 

Update on August 2, 2022 I'm still experiencing health complications I am having heart problems on top of dizzy spells and difficulty breathing I'm in such distress that walking to the mailbox is a hard chore waiting on a redetermination from the disability association.

On Wednesday January 20, 2021 I suffered a stroke while driving to work in Washington DC. My eyesight just completely stopped and my whole body shut down in the middle of traffic. I was able to pull over (by grace of God) and call 911 on OnStar. Doctors are now telling me that calling so quickly after suffering it totally saved my life. The doctors and nurses at Washington Hospital Medical Center and the National Rehabilitation Center have been tremendous. Thanks to the stroke nurses Kerrie, Elyse and, A. Hsia, and Michael Wroten. I was diagnosed with a left ponds stroke with affected my face and eyesight (vision). I've been told that I can possibly be out of work for an unlimited time and have an extensive rehab (therapists Bonnie P. , Karen G. And Patty Fletcher) journey ahead of me. I'm scared and don't know what is going on with my body. I'm employed as a security officer in downtown DC and can not work because of the current situation I am a true believer in God and thankful daily. I have multiple appointments ahead of me and attend therapy at least twice a week.One of the doctors call my condition a one and a half (eye) syndrome.

Update: as of May 14, 2021 I am no longer employed due to my continued vision problems. I use Metro Access(DMV Disability transportation) for travel to and from therapy sessions and doctors appointments. I unfortunately cannot afford to pay for it sometimes due to the lack of funds and would appreciate any help available. I continue to ask for prayers at this time.

February 20, 2022 update

I'm still in therapy. Experiencing extreme dizziness and balance problems. A cane is my constant accessory at the moment. Behind on mortgage payments and every day bills. Going through the appeal process with disability. Missing work like never before. Emotional drained. Any assistance and prayer appreciated.
