Support for Mark Giller

Mark was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer in late November 2022. He is currently undergoing aggressive and costly treatment.

Mark Giller – “Gill$” as he’s affectionately known by his students – is a beloved English teacher at Arroyo High School in San Lorenzo, California, where he’s taught for the past 10 years. He’s taking this semester away from Arroyo to focus on his treatment. A combination of chemo and immunotherapies has proven effective with this type of cancer so he remains hopeful. While he misses his old routine as well as his favorite activities like cooking, trying new restaurants, hiking and gardening, Mark still finds the time to watch his Cincinnati Bengals (who came so close this year!) and to keep up on his reading.

Mark lives with his wife of 14 years, Brenna, their niece Cadence, and their two cats in Oakland, California. They are blessed with a supportive community of neighbors and friends, so no help is needed for meals and groceries. However, the cost of Mark’s medical care to fight this devastating and unexpected diagnosis is daunting. Donations for his care – big or small – are welcome and deeply appreciated. Anything helps.
