On the early morning of April 19th, my cousin Shelley lost her dear husband, Mark after he suffered a massive, fatal heart attack. She did her best administering CPR with their two sons by her side trying to help. We know God is the author of our lives, but nothing could prepare them for this chapter. Mark was the gentle giant, the big voice and presence in the room, but with the demeanor of a teddy bear. He had a servant's heart, was thoughtful and generous, always wanting to help his friends and family in any way he could. He loved his country and served in the United States Army. He was an Assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts Troop #356 through St. John Lutheran Church. He loved to make people laugh and will forever be known for his stories and sense of humor which will be deeply missed.
Many people are praying for Shelley and the boys and have asked how they can help. As the family prepares for earthly life without Mark, financial stress is a part of this. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given on this gofundme to help Shelley and the boys navigate financially through this very difficult time.
Shelley, Ian & Nathan express deep gratitude for all the prayers, cards, notes, meals, texts & phone calls of support during this unthinkable time.
As a family, we lean on God's word in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." As hard as it will be for everyone to adjust to a new normal, and life without our beloved Mark, we rejoice that he is in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
