Mark Dannenberg Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Mark passed away on August 2, 2020 at the age of 60 due to complications from pancreatic cancer. He was a devoted father, cherished EPA colleague and friend. A memorial service was held for Mark and is available at https://youtu.be/uI7Z-t8BGRA. His daughter Kaitlin remarked “dad used to talk about how it was a small world, but he made it that way.” His teenage son Jake spoke of how his dad “did his best to try to understand what he was in to.” Mark’s life was a gentle reminder to us all of the power of the simple act of listening and trying to understand one another. His daughter Molly captured Mark’s spirit “my father was a muse ... we were all inspired by his company.” We will all miss Mark, his sparkle and kindness. Whether you knew Mark well or met him only once, you left his presence feeling better for it; he truly left the world a better place. As his EPA family, we would like to express our sentiments about what Mark meant to us by planting a living legacy of trees in his memory in a US forest in need.
As the link explains, trees can be planted as a group ($75 for 10, - provides oxygen for 40 people annually); cluster ($150 for 50 -provides oxygen for 200 people annually); or grove ($250 for 100 - provides oxygen for 400 people annually). Funds collected (minus GoFundMe processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per donation) will be used to purchase trees in these increments with any remaining balance given to the family. Sherrel, Caroline and Nickie will coordinate sending a sympathy card to the family with a list of donors and remaining funds.
We will collect through September 10, 2020. Thank you in advance for any support you are able to give.
