My very good friend of more than 23 years is in need of help.
He was recently diagnosed in June with stage 3 rectal cancer. He completed 5 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy with amazing stamina. While awaiting the surgery to remove the tumor, he suffered an inguinal hernia, which left him incapacitated. While undergoing the hernia surgery last Wednesday, more cancer was discovered in his abdomen. Last Wednesday, he had surgery on the hernia and is awaiting recovery so he can continue the cancer therapy. This is a very long haul for Mark and his bride of 13 months.
Mark is the kind of guy that is always there for others. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have been the recipient of his kindness. One time, as a small example, I locked my keys in my truck. Mark dropped everything he was doing in the middle of the workday and drove across town because the key to his Chevy would open my GMC. He also does remodel and very frequently works on people's homes according to how much they can afford, while he himself, may be worried about where his next house payment is coming from.
Upon healing from the hernia surgery (2-3 weeks) he still faces 6 months of infusion chemotherapy plus 2 surgeries. While Mark and Sarah have good health insurance, the deductibles are $6700 each for 2019 and 2020. He will basically be out of commission for the next 8-9 months and as a self-employed contractor, that burden with no income will be devastating for this newly wedded couple. If you can afford to donate to someone that has helped so many, I would greatly appreciate it.
