Mark Cocar Recovery Fund

Hi, my name is Ella and I'm fundraising to help support my dad, Mark Cocar, recover from his accident. On Sunday, Sept 26th my dad was biking home when he was unfortunately hit by a car door being opened. His pelvis is severely fractured and has fractured his arm as well. My dad will need reconstructive surgery for his pelvis with a total hip replacement once he is stable. He will be in hospital for at least a month, and will need rehab for months going forward.

My dad is an independent artist and upholsterer working out of a studio at 1000 Parker, which most people are familiar with from the East Van Culture Crawls. Because he is an independent creator, he does not have health insurance. Additionally, his work is physically demanding and he will most likely not be able to return to his work for several months.

I am creating this fundraiser to help support my dad during his recovery. The funds will be used to cover his rent, both for his housing and his work studio, during his recovery as he will not have any reliable income. The funds will also be used to cover his rehab expenses and home care support. Any and all donations will be incredibly appreciated during this time. Any words of support would also be welcome.
