Mark Arkell Memorial

On May 18, 2018 we lost a small-town legend to a grain bin accident.  In high school, Mark was well known for his athletic abilities-- especially in football and wrestling.  He was well-loved by his classmates and those younger than him not only his his athletic ability, but also for his character.  He was known for his big personality, his humor, and his compassionate heart.  He went on to wrestle and play football in college.  When Mark's mother fell in poor health and required care, he quit his job and moved back to Lamberton to help with her care.  He also began to put his energy and time in helping out with youth sports.  He coached football, baseball, basketball, and soccer.  He was not only a coach to the kids, he was their cheerleader.  Even after his mother passed away, he realized that he felt called to stay in the community and help with youth sports.

Mark's life has inspired the Sanborn-Lamberton Class of 1990 to set up a scholarship fund for students of Red Rock Central as a way of continuing his legacy, and as a way for us to give back to the community that we grew up in and loved.  We are using this site to collect funds from classmates and others who have loved Mark.  The hope is to establish a fund that will offer scholarships for years to come.
