Mark and Niki Lofvendahl

Dear friends, family, and compassionate community members,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share the story of Mark and Niki Lofvendahl, two incredible people who have touched the lives of so many in our community. Mark, a dedicated teacher and coach who has served our district for many years, recently suffered a devastating stroke. This stroke, caused by undiagnosed heart failure, has left him with limited use of one side of his body and has confined him to a wheelchair.

In addition to the emotional and physical toll, Mark and Niki now face an overwhelming new set of challenges as their home is not equipped for Mark's current needs. They will need to make significant changes to their living space, including retrofitting their home to accommodate a wheelchair (they will need to purchase) and installing a ramp for easier mobility. These unexpected expenses are a heavy burden for a couple who have always been fiercely independent and private.

Mark’s journey has been one of resilience and strength. Five years ago, he bravely fought and defeated cancer, and now, he is facing another uphill battle. Throughout his career, Mark has been more than just an educator—he’s been a mentor, a coach, and a friend to so many. His positive impact has left a lasting legacy on students, athletes, and families alike. Niki has been his steadfast partner, and together, they have always given to others, asking little in return.

Now, it’s our turn to give back. I’m creating this GoFundMe to help alleviate the financial strain that Mark and Niki are facing as they navigate this new chapter in their lives. The costs of retrofitting their home, purchasing medical equipment, and covering other unexpected expenses are substantial. Any amount you can contribute will go directly to supporting Mark and Niki as they make these essential adjustments.

Let’s come together as a community and show Mark and Niki that they’re not alone during this difficult time. They are two of the most caring, hardworking, and generous people you’ll ever meet, and I know they would be humbled by your support.
