Hi my name is Jess. I am starting this fundraiser to help my parents. My dad contracted covid (delta variant) and pneumonia over the holidays. He hasn't been to work since December 30th 2021 because he was admitted into the hospital. He was transferred via ambulance from Adams county to Parkview when a blood clot appeared on lung scan. He was put on oxygen and isolated for 10 days due to covid.

They later found a small tear in his lung and that the air was escaping his lungs and filling his chest cavity called a pneumothorax and his right lung had collapsed. The doctors were to put a tube under his armpit to drain the air from around his chest cavity. They had to put him on a ventilator during surgery and he has been on one ever since. Since then they've added a feeding tube down his nose for nutrients.

Then it was discovered he had blood clots in his legs and needed to put a filter in his abdomen to stop any clots from making it to his lungs but they couldn't because his vitals were so low. We almost lost him the night of his surgery because his vitals were really low to the point where they said he might not make it through the night. He pulled through!

He has been in and out of sedation for about a week in order to heal. His oxygen went down when the nurses came in to turn him over and they didn't like that so they did another x ray of his chest and found a small pneumothorax on the other side. Now they have been trying to get him off the ventilator but he needs another surgery to fix the tear in his lung. Being on the ventilator doesn't allow for his lung to heal due to the air being pushed through his lungs.

It's been one surprise after another with him. And he has been out of work for almost a month. My mom has been trying to spend as much time with him as she can but between the need to work and driving to Fort Wayne every day it really takes a toll on their bank account. I'm hoping to raise enough to help them stay up to date on their bills until they can both return to work.

Its going to be a long road of recovery for my dad and a nice bill after he gets home. Anything helps. Please share! God Bless.
