Mark and Lara Acheson Hurricane Ida Reiief

My name is Ryan Acheson, and I am starting this fund to assist with my parents, Mark and Lara Acheson. They have lost their place to live and almost all of their possessions to Hurricane Ida. The apartment that they lived in was condemned by the city of Kenner due to the damage caused by the storm. Currently, they are having to stay in a motel in Ocean Springs, Mississippi while my Dad has to drive over 3 hours total daily back and forth from Kenner, Louisiana to work because this is the only place they could find to stay. On top of all if this, my parent's insurance has decided they are not eligible for any reimbursement for damages caused by the storm. Besides a couple pieces of furniture, a few clothes, and their pets, they have lost almost everything. Even things that are currently salvageable will still get left behind due to having no way to keep it.

My parents are not the type of people to ask for handouts. Anybody who knows either Mark or Lara know how stubborn they are. They have worked hard their entire lives and are prideful of what they have managed to build on their own, but now that has all been taken away. They have begrudgingly agreed to let me set this up for them. The money gathered by this fund will be used in multiple ways, all to support my parents current situation:

-To help pay for the cost of moving and travel until they can find a new permanent place to live

-To buy household essentials lost in the storm, most notably a mattress, basic furniture, clothing, dishware, and cookware

- To pay for a storage unit to keep some of the salvageable furniture, clothes, and personal effects until they can find a new permanent place to stay

- Any other expenses related to the storm as they arise

The goal of 5000 dollars will not bring everything back, it will not be enough to cover the emotional tole of everything that was lost that irreplaceable, but it will at least be enough for them to be able to stand on their feet again, in whatever shape that takes. Even if the goal is not met, any small amount will help tremendously.
