Before Mark passed he asked Eddie, "Please make sure my wife is okay". We are here asking you to help make that happen.
The purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise money for Mark's funeral, celebration of life party, and the bills that have amassed, as all of their income went to his cancer treatment. Donations of any amount would have been greatly appreciated by Mark, and is appreciated by those who loved him.
Mark was a loving and devoted father, husband, son and the best of friends. We knew him to be a hard working, smart, energetic & funny guy who was an enthusiastic biker, stuntman and martial artist. Hilarious to be around, every set he was on he'd have people cracking up!
In the early morning of November 9, Mark Anthony Chavarria passed away after a valiant 4 year long battle with stage 4 colorectal cancer. Mark’s loving wife Alyssa, son Tyler and brother Mike were at his bedside when he left this world. He was only 49 years young.
Mark was born September 30th, 1968 in Houston, Texas to an elated Ralph and Yolanda Chavarria. He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Chavarria.
Mark will be lovingly remembered by his Wife: Alyssa Chavarria; Son: Tyler William Chavarria; Mothers: Susan Knowles and Yolanda Chavarria; Brothers: Ilan Chavarria and Mike Chavarria (Diane Chavarria); Nephews and Nieces: Veronica Chavarria, Rebecca Chavarria, Justin Chavarria, Ethan Chavarria; Great Nephews and Nieces: Ava Marie Ruiz, Elijah Zapata, Ryan Zapata, Jaxson Chavarria.
Mark grew up on the north side of town playing in the bayous and ditches, riding bikes and doing typical boy stuff, always outside. His beloved Dad would take him to see lots of action movies sparking his interest in film.
Growing up Mark took an interest in academics and sports, playing football for Lutheran High North. In high school he developed lifelong friendships, bonds that remained to the day he passed.
Mark was heavily involved in martial arts and physical fitness since high school, never losing interest in breaking into the film industry. He met his long time friend and mentor David “Stutter” Sanders working on a “no budget” Houston Stuntman Association demo that Mark was attending as a spectator.
Needing someone to drag behind a truck, Stutter wanted the smallest guy for the part and, as he looked around the crowd, he spied Mark, who he thought would be the perfect short hoodlum. Stutter hollered at him, asking him if he wanted to work. Mark jumped at the chance and was hooked! He continued working with Stutter to build his portfolio and get cast in parts in movies.
Mark hustled to make his big dreams a reality and anyone who has ever talked to him knows the life of a stuntman was what he was born to do; being flipped, tripped, blown up, shot up, and set on fire made him endlessly happy. Mark was proud to have worked with actors such as Robert DeNiro, Chuck Norris, Dolph Lundgren, Billy Bob Thornton, Kevin Sorbo, Danny Trejo and many more.
Mark continued to work while attending the University of Houston graduating in Dec of 1999 with a BA in Humanities.
In 2009 he met the one beautiful woman that could tolerate him and swept her off her feet, marrying her in 2010. Mark and Alyssa shared lots of great times and travel in the early years of their marriage. They shared a passion for the open road which lead Mark, in 2011, to become one of the original founding Brothers of the “Los Hermanos” Motorcycle Club.
In 2013 the couple shared the devastating news that Mark was suffering from stage 4 colorectal cancer. Alyssa has been at his side through thick and thin, good and bad. Together the couple have shared every doctor appointment, surgery, and decision through the long and difficult fight against his cancer.
Anyone who knows Mark, knows he fought harder than anyone else in the world. Along the way, he did so much research, tried new treatments, and listened to other’s battles; inspiring people from all over the world by giving them hope and following his epic battle.
Even in his last days he was fighting for survival, but God had other plans for him and took him Home at 4 am with his wife holding him, and his son and brother next to him. The oldies that his Pop loved were playing when he passed.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said “Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart”.
Mark’s heart was filled with footprints.
“And that’s a wrap”
