Peace is a lifestyle is one of the leading violence prevention and intervention organizations in America. It is based in South Jamaica, Queens and it provides youth and families with positive alternatives to violence, bullying and other forms of anti-social behavior. It offers young people aged 13-24 and their families educational, employment and social opportunities they may not have. Their goals include reducing violence, creating connections, building healthy families, and developing leaders. It also focuses on ending mass incarceration by reducing the number of young people entering the system. The MATW project was founded to help eradicate poverty. Part of the initiative heavily focuses on targeting the 42 million orphans in Africa and helping to provide them with the basic essentials for survival including healthcare, clothing, food, housing, education and recreational activities.
