Mariya Dion Douglas Funeral & Support for Amiya

My name is Kamaria Douglas, and I am creating this GoFundMe page in honor and support of my niece Mariya Dion Douglas and her baby girl Amiya Marie.

My beautiful niece Mariya Dion Douglas unexpectedly gained her wings Thursday morning November 9th, 2023 at the young age of 25. If you knew Mariya, she had the best dimpled smile that would light up any room with an even bigger heart to match. In her short 25 years of life, she experienced so much pain, grief, turmoil, and heartache but that never stopped her from showing up and supporting the people she loved.

Mariya was the type of person that was always willing to help others in their times of need. She was out-going, caring, compassionate, funny, full of moxie, resilient, kindhearted, courageous, thoughtful, attentive, and just an overall sweetheart. She was always very intentional in telling the people she loved how much she loved them.

At the core of Mariya’s heart, was her baby girl, Amiya Marie, who will be turning 5 on December 4th. She was determined to make a better life for her and her daughter. Prior to her passing, she was actively working on her resume and applying for jobs to move back to her home state of Michigan.

A portion of this money will be used to cover Mariya homegoing service with the remaining funds going to the support of her beautiful daughter Amiya.

Here’s an excerpt from Mariya’s Journal on October 17th, 2023:

“If you are going through the motions spiritually, don’t be surprised when God allows pain in your life. Pain is the fuel of passion – it energizes us with intensity to change what we don’t normally possess. Your problems are not punishment, they are wake-up calls from a loving God. God gives us time on earth to build and strengthen our character for heaven.”

She is preceded in death by her father, Marcel Dion Douglas.

She leaves behind her daughter (Amiya Marie), her mother (Dawn (Moore) Paz), her two sisters, (Rakia and LaShiya), her niece (Alekia). A host of grand-parents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends that adore her.
