This Go Fund Me is being launched to help a beloved mother, sister, teacher and friend courageously battling a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer.

Maritza lived in Louisiana before relocating to Ohio in 2005. Her and her family survived the devastating and deadly category 5 hurricane, Katrina. She lost everything, her home, cherished and irreplaceable family heirlooms, her job, but never her hope. She is a survivor!

Several years ago, she lost the love of her life, Hugo Mejia. Facing another tragedy, she quietly mourned his passing, showing others a strong front and resilience. However, inside of the strong exterior is a kind and generous spirit, who thinks of others before herself. She is dedicated to the care of her daughter, her students, friends so it's only fair that we help her so she can take care of herself.

Throughout her loses, she has found comfort in giving to others, be it hand made jewelry, clothing, art work or even inviting them to dinner at a cool, little out-of-way eatery.

This Go Fund me is to give back to her. To ease the weight ever mounting medical bills and help prepare her for those to come. She will continue to face weekly, aggressive chemo and possible reconstructive surgery in the future.
