Marita Preston's medical expenses
Donation protected
In June of 2017, my beautiful friend Marita was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is a mother of 2 teenaged boys, a wife, sister and friend to many.
In July, Marita had 2 unsuccessful surgeries in an attempt to remove the cancer. In August, she had a modified radical mastectomy with 15 lymph nodes removed.
She is facing several months of chemotherapy which had to be delayed due to a life threatening perforated intestine that required emergency surgery to repair.
Because Marita had been at a new job for less than 6 months, she had no paid time off. As a result, she has been without income for several months. Additionally, she is not eligible for FMLA job protection even in light of the unpaid leave she has had to use for surgeries and treatment. Marita's husband is unemployed and has been actively searching for work so Marita has carried the health benefits for them.
She is now faced with certain job loss which also means a loss of desperately needed health insurance.
It is hard enough dealing with a serious health threat and Marita has worked her enitre life so is unaccustomed to having to ask for help. Her friends and family want her focus to be on getting well and beating this horrible disease. The financial impact of her illeness should not be her primary worry.
Any contributions will be used to pay for life necessities to support her family and hopefully allow her to extend her health insurance coverage.
Please consider a contribution regardless of size and keep Marita in your thoughts for a full recovery.
