Hello, my name is Marissa and I am an undergraduate at San Jose State University. I am studying Forensic Science, concentration in CSI (crime scene investigation). A couple months ago I applied for an Internship for Summer 2023 at the University of Glasgow, located in Scotland. With lots of hard work and dedication, I was fortunate to be accepted! I am estatic becuase this internship will help me prosper and gain knowledge in my field of study. This internship deals with aspects of crime scene investigation, DNA Analysis, fingerprints, etc. Although this is not a paid internship, this opportunity will give me insight into many helpful tips and give me hands-on experiences.

I will be heading to Scotland for a three-week course that focuses on the fundamentals of Forensic Science.

During those three weeks, I will be taking classes at the University of Glasgow as well as working with the crime lab for those that work in the industry.

One of the reasons why I am attending this opportunity is because I have always wanted to pursue forensics since I was a sophomore in High School. Another reason is because I need an internship credit in order to graduate from SJSU. The overall reason for wanting to go is this would be a huge opportunity for me. Those who know me very well, know that this is something that I have been wanting to do my whole life. I’ve never had an opportunity quite this big ever in my lifetime.

Being a college student, expenses tend to add up. I am reaching out for help so I can expand my abilities and work experience for a future job in Forensics. I truly worked so hard to get where I am in this stage of my life and I will be devastated if an opportunity like this does not get recognized.

This fund will go towards my final payment, plane ticket there and back, food, and local transportation. It will also go towards my payment for enrollment fees and all necessary college funds. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support!
