Marissa & Mikaela's Transplant Expenses

Hello all! My name is Marissa, and I am raising funds for a kidney transplant surgery for my sister, Mikaela, who was diagnosed with double kidney failure in 2017.

Being three years apart, my sister and I were very close growing up; to this day, she is my best friend. So when she told me about her diagnosis, I had no idea about all of the obstacles she would face in the next five years with dialysis multiple times a week and constant doctor appointments while raising my adorable niece and working full time. More recently, she developed congestive heart failure from this sickness that the doctors believe should heal with the kidney transplant.

Five years is a very long time waiting for a new kidney and healthier life, so in January 2022, I applied to be her direct kidney donor. To no surprise, I was a "perfect match" for her, and in June, we were given the green light to proceed with the transplant.

Your generous donations will be going towards airfare, recovery housing for three weeks, medical bills not covered by insurance, and other kidney-related expenses. All excess funds will be donated to the American Kidney Fund.
