Marissa & Bri Haiti Missions Trip
Donation protected
This year, we have the privilege to serve on a Mission's trip to Haiti from June 14,2021 to June 23, 2021. I am so excited that this year, my daughter Briana will also be joining our Missions team for the 2nd year in a row. Together, we will step outside of our comfort zone to serve.
I was touched and humbled as a participant in or church's past mission's trip to Haiti. On that trip, we helped build a house, visited a hospital, spent a day with children in an orphanage, and ministered to men in prison. I made emotional connections with the people and shared the love of God with so many hungry hearts. A story I will always remember was when our team went up to the countryside. We hired a truck to take us up, but because the roads were so rocky and steep the truck couldn't make it. In our church clothes, we hopped out carried our bags and hiked miles in the heat and humidity to reach our destination. I will never forget, we were 3 hours late, but the locals, hundreds of them were all waiting patiently and greeted us with such warm, excited hearts. It touched my heart to see their lack of materials and dirt grounds with chickens walking through the church but they worshiped in a way I have never seen in America. Their passion encouraged and inspired me and that weekend, it helped me realize that joy is found in Jesus and the relationships around me. There is joy in the little things! I remember I got to share my own story as an immigrant to America with an adolescent in that village. When we first met she seemed hopeless and lost, and I just got a chance to love on her and talk to her like she was my daughter. I'll never forget that sparkle in her eyes after our conversation, she went and called her friends over to meet me. It's these kinds of memories that I want my own daughter, Briana, to get to experience again.
The hospital was another unforgettable experience. The conditions were pathetic compared to American standards. You have to go out and purchase all your own medical materials from your own syringes to IVs to gauze. It broke my heart to see patients in pain and some incredibly weak and skinny to having to worry about going to buy their own supplies to be treated. There were way too many patients to nurses or doctors and sadly some don't make it out just because of the lack of financial funds or materials. I went on the trip looking to bless others but I came back more blessed than ever, and I can't wait to share this experience with my daughter.
In preparation for this week-long mission's trip, the most difficult part will be to generate the $3,000 to purchase medical supplies, bibles, and materials to bless the Haitian locals in Jeremie, Haiti. I am praying and believing the Lord to provide some of the funds necessary to fulfill this journey. I hope you all will partner with us on this journey whether it is to pray for us or to help us financially.
