Some things we know about Marisa:
she is well-loved, has a giant, caring heart and is a hard worker.
Something you might not know about Marisa:
at the age of 11, she was diagnosed with germ cell ovarian cancer, and was required to undergo the removal of a 10 pound tumor and one of her ovaries. After two recurrences and multiple surgeries in the past 10 years, Marisa has learned recently that she has a new germ cell tumor that will need to be removed once again. With this surgery, the oncologist will no longer be able to preserve any more of the remaining ovary, so she will have to remove her remaining ovary. This means that she will have no chance of having children in the future, so Marisa’s oncologist is strongly encouraging her to freeze her eggs (in December) before this surgery (date TBD soon after), so she can have a chance of starting a family when she’s ready.
Something else you might not know: she became a ward of the state at the age of 11, leaving her to be her own sole financial caregiver.
Due to these circumstances and the fact that she is a student (working on her nursing degree from DMACC), we are raising funds to help her get through this season. We will be covering the added finances of these operations and incurred expenses related to them.
We would like to invite you to help us cover the freezing of her eggs & storage fees (for 2.5 years...until she graduates), lost wages after the surgery (unable to work for 4 weeks) and help for her to continue therapy sessions for the next year. We have already seen God’s hand and provision in this as her initial visit with a fertility specialist resulted in the doctor discounting $5,250 off the bill!!!
Please direct any questions to Jessie Muntz or Julie Van Hove or leave comments here! Marisa would also love to have you praying for her! Thank you for prayerfully considering supporting Marisa either prayerfully and/or financially!
