Mari’s medical costs and family expenses

It is with a heavy heart that I share the sad news of the passing of my colleague and friend, Dr. Maricela Gonzales.  She remained so vibrant and optimistic during her 3-year journey with glioblastoma, enduring 4 brain surgeries, strokes and brain bleeds, chemo, radiation and the mass shooting in her children’s school --Robb Elementary in Uvalde, TX. 

 

Mari was an extraordinary psychologist that served the students and staff in Cypress Fairbanks ISD in Houston as an intern and staff member, and went on to change lives of children and families in Uvalde Consolidated ISD and in the private practice she built.  She leaves behind 4 extraordinary children (Nadia, 23; Diego, 19; Javi, 16; and Vianey, 8); an incredibly devoted husband, Abraham, (a PE teacher that ushered students to safety during the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School); numerous colleagues and friends; and countless students whose lives she forever changed. 

 

The family is in need of assistance for medical bills and family expenses due to lost earnings from providing unwavering care.  Your generosity and support to this deserving family is very appreciated.
