On Friday, September 13, 2019, Mario Perez went out with family members to celebrate his nephew’s birthday.  They went out for a nice dinner and then they ended up at a friend’s bar for a celebratory nightcap.  At around 12:40 AM on 9/14, Mario went outside to help the owner of the bar break up a fight.  He was shot multiple times and Mario did not survive.  Here is the story that aired on Channel 7:

We are all devastated by the loss of Mario.  He was such an important part of our lives because he was an amazing family man and a great friend.  Our lives will never be the same again.  Mario was the kind of person that was the life of every party, made everyone feel like they mattered in his life, would take the shirt off his back to help a friend, was extremely hardworking, and loved everyone no matter where they came from or who they were.

Many people have reached out to express a desire to help the family. As many of you know there was nothing more important to Mario than family and friends.  Two of the most important people in his life were his two sons Mario Jr (Chub), and Javier (Javi).  Chub is presently applying to schools to pursue a postgraduate degree in physical therapy and Javi is in his sophomore year at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR).  We are establishing this GoFundMe account to help pay for the boys education.  We are asking that you donate to this fund in lieu of flowers. Mario was extremely proud of his two boys and wanted nothing more than to see them finish their postgraduate education.  Let 's make his dream come true and  get these wonderful young men through school.

Sally, Mario Jr., and Javier do not have the words to express how much they love and miss Mario.  They are touched by the outpouring of love and support that all of you have expressed and thank you from the bottom of their hearts.
