These past few weeks has been so surreal. COVID has flipped Mario's whole world upside down.
Mario is a truly hard working, generous and humble man. He is a loving husband and father of two young girls, who really miss their dad. Anyone who knows the Napoli family knows that they are AMAZING people. The kind of family that would drop everything they are doing to be there for you. Well, today they need us!
On Tuesday August 31st Mario came home early from work just not feeling right. Then, on September 2nd he tested positive for COVID.
On Monday September 6th Mario was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. He was admitted to St. Lukes where they confirmed that he had severe COVID Pneumonia. Mario was left to sit in the ER for 14 hours without treatment, or proper medication before they finally found a bed for him.
He was discharged from St. Lukes 2 days later with a swollen face and neck, and still in a very serious condition.
Over the next 2 days the swelling in his face and neck became so bad that he was struggling to breath, and could not talk.
On Friday September 10th Mario's wife, Sammie called 911 and he was rushed to the hospital. With an Oxygen level of 68%, and his face swollen to 5x's his normal size, Mario was deemed in critical condition and airlifted to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. Where to this day, is still in the ICU.
He was immediately put on a BiPap machine and a rebreather. The combination is needed to keep his oxygen up. They are trying everything they can do to keep his oxygen up but if they are not able to, the next step is intubation.
he is unable to walk, eat, drink, or talk. All of those things take oxygen away, and it takes Mario about an hour to bring his Oxygen back up at this point. Majority of his day is spent lying on his stomach, due to the severity of pneumonia.
Mario is suffering, physically, mentally and emotionally. His diagnosis's are just awful..
Because of COVID,
COVID pneumonia in both lungs, blood clots, subcutaneous emphysema, and a perforated esophagus are the conditions he has been diagnosed with during the fight for his life.
This is going to be a long road for the Napoli family and as Mario being the main source of income in the household, they are struggling to stay afloat. They have no idea how long it will take Mario to recover from this beast,. But we do know, that when he comes home, he will be unable to work for a very long time. Mario will be coming home with oxygen for many months, he will need physical therapy, and will have to make many changes to his every day life. The road to recovery is going to be something that we cannot even imagine. Please, consider donating and helping us to ease the burden for this incredible family!!! TOGETHER, as a community, we can be the difference!
