Dear family and friends,
I write to you with a personal ask today.
My best friend in Guatemala, Paulina, has had a horrific past few days.
She went in to the hospital for a routine C-Section for her first daughter... and what should have been a joyous occasion, quickly shifted course. One complication has led to another since Friday, August 21st. She has been in intensive care since and has faced three different surgeries and severe blood loss. As of today, thank God, she is stable.
However, with so much medical attention come the bills piling up. What the family had saved for the C-Section and the first months of their newborn's life was quickly drained - and they now face an enormous debt. The hospital bill is now well over USD 15,000.
What should be the happiest of times has been burdened by fear, pain, and financial burden.
And miles away I feel useless to subdue fear and pain. What I CAN do is try to help financially. Hence, my ask to you.
If all of my friends gave only $5, we could make an enormous difference in the lives of my dear friends Mario and Paulina. Times are hard for everyone, but we are incredibly strong together. If everyone gives just a little, it will quickly add up to a whole lot.
I can't thank you enough for ANYTHING you can contribute.
I plan on sending an international wire transfer on Monday, September 31st. Anything received beforehand will be sent down in this transfer.
