Mariners Soar! After School Program at DISES 2023

My name is Esther Adams, and I am the Program Director for the Mariners Soar! After School Program at Deer Isle-Stonington Elementary School. We are inviting donations on Giving Tuesday to support the After School Program, which is provided free of charge to DISES and DISHS students in grades three and above. Participating students receive academic support and participate in project- and place-based activities during out-of-school hours, including summer vacation. Activities range from mountain biking, rock-wall climbing, and Nature Club to STEAM projects, gardening, cooking, and everything in between. We prioritize student voice and choice with a Student Advisory Board that helps guide our programming and fosters student leadership and mentorship. Students also receive a free meal and transportation home each day. We strive to create a safe and supportive learning environment where every student feels they matter.

Now in its fifth year, the After School Program has been funded by a combination of private donations, a small portion of the school budget, and a five-year 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, which ends in June. Your donation today will help us sustain the After School Program into the future so that we can continue to provide this programming and offer a safe place after school to any student who chooses to participate.
