Marine Veteran Cancer Support

Donation protected
My name is Steven Schwartz.  I am 31 years old, a father, a soon to be husband, a Marine Veteran of 8 years with multiple trips overseas, and I am battling Colorectal cancer.   I was diganosed this March with cancer just as the Covid-19 started to surge and was unfortunately also let go from my job all within 7 days of each other.  I was misdiganosed at the hospital in March when I went due to stomach pain and an extreme amount of bleeding when using the restroom.  The hospital charged over $2500 for the visit.  The next week I did a colonoscopy and that is where we discovered the tumor.  That day my world changed.   I have been living off savings and support from my family ever since.  I have completed 6 weeks of chemo and radiation so far and have a major surgery upcoming where I will spend a week in the hospital.  They are going to remove the tumor which before the start of the chemo and radiation was approximately half the size of a donut from my body and then will reattach my rectum to my colon which will leave me unable to even lift 5 lbs for 6 weeks to ensure no damage is caused to my body as it recovers.   A DNA test was done to see if this cancer is genetic since I was 30 years old when diganosed and nothing came up in my test to show that I have a hereditary predisposition to cancer.  My Oncologist believes this was caused by things I was exposed to during my service and while overseas in Afghanistan.   My Cobra insurance has partially covered parts of my treatment so far yet even just this morning I recieved another $3111 bill for treatments I have recieved.  I am well over $13000 in medical expenses already with no end in sight.  After my surgery I will have one final bout of chemo and hopefully then I will finally be in remission but I have run out of the ability to not only pay these medical expenses but to pay my own bills as well.   Any help would mean the world to me and my family.  Once I am done with this surgery I am hoping to have the strength to marry my fiance and put this chapter behind up starting our new life together but with out tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills.   These funds will not only pay off the current medical debt I have obtained so far, but all the future bills for the next few months of battling I have left as well as allow me to not get burried in even more debt from my normal monthly expenses.   Hopefully after this surgery and round two of chemo I will be able to add beating cancer to my list of life accomplishments.  Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and every single donation as well and every time this is shared means so much to me and my loved ones.  I have had so many people rooting for me to kick cancers butt and I will keep doing all I can physically and mentally to beat this sickness.  I will not let cancer be the final page in my book, it will just be a small chapter once I bet this!
