Marina's Battle Versus Thyroid Cancer

Marina Kogan is the loving wife of Alex Kogan and mother of two sons (Josh and Matthew). After several weeks of pain in her throat and trouble swallowing, she decided that it was necessary to go to the doctor and check it out. The doctors had found a unifocal tumor in a thyroglossal duct cyst and determined that it was a papillary thyroid carcinoma (thyroid cancer), measuring roughly 1.5 cm in dimension. On December 19th, she successfully underwent a partial thyroglossal duct cyst excision to remove the malformation. To ensure being cancer free, our fighter underwent another successful surgery, a total thyroidectomy February 13th. While as a family, we could not be more grateful for the job the surgeons did, the honeymoon phase is over and the reality of the bills and paying for the healthcare she received has set in. To be frank, our family has encountered many hardships and we are simply not in the financial position anymore to make these type of payments with youngest son Josh going off to college in the fall.
