Marina McIntyre, FNP-C has lived in Ketchikan, AK for over 20 years. She has taken care of patients at her clinic, Calm Harbor, and other clinics for many years. She has selfishly not billed patients for balances or seen patients for free due to no insurance. Now is the time to help this amazing Nurse Practitioner. This is her story below...
I’ve been here in Ketchikan for 24 years. I consider it an honor to be able to care for others. In 2010 I woke with paralysis of the left side of my body. That marked the beginning of this disease. It is a rare mitochondrial myopathy that causes muscle weakness, pain and activity intolerance. It has now progressed to cardiac preload failure, dysautonomia, and small fiber neuropathy. There is no cure. I have been accepted into a clinical trial in Boston. This will help others with this disease. I practice mindfulness, meditation and grounding to stay balanced. I live each day with gratitude, and nurture an environment of harmony and joy. Because I will not be able to work for an extended period of time I am hoping for any help with the costs of living there.
