It’s been difficult to find the words and wrap my head and heart around this new reality and shake everyone else’s. It is with a broken heart I inform you all my mom, Marina, has passed away unexpectedly. She was on her way to meet her first granddaughter she had been hoping praying and threatening me for, for the past several years. My mother was a strong, funny woman who left footprints on the hearts of everyone she touched if you rubbed her the right way. Although, when it came to her nieces and nephews there was no doing wrong. She isn’t like a second mom to them she is a second mom to them. We are now left with the memories of my mom which we are all leaning on and laughing at to get us through this very difficult time. God really blessed our family with this strong, beautiful soul who made friends with anyone anywhere she would go. She was the rock everyone could rely on when times got tough. She was the one to help carry the weight and get you through whatever it was with her brutal honesty and undeniable love and stubbornness. God blessed me with a mother who had such a big heart that she was able to change my life and impact the lives of so many around us so naturally. It pains me so much to know she never got to meet and hold the granddaughter that she has been waiting for, for years. My mother was the primary caregiver to her mother, party planner for all the children in our family having planned two birthday parties, a sweet 16, my baby shower and looking forward to Christmas with another beautiful tree to show off to everyone this year. She was actively involved in all of her nieces and nephews lives and I am happy I was able to share her with them because everyone’s deserves to be experience a person like my mom who had a love so tough and strong it made you tough and strong even if it wasn’t easy.
Being the blessing that she was to us we all want to send her off with the services she truly deserves. My mom was out of state visiting her godson and cousin in New Mexico giving my new little family time to bond before coming and taking over on the grandma duties she was looking forward to when she unexpectedly passed. I am asking our communities to come together and help our family bring my mom home back to Indiana from New Mexico to receive the funeral she deserves and be laid to rest. This will give our family the peace we have not been able to have knowing she isn’t home. This has been especially difficult for her mother the matriarch of our family who has had a difficult time accepting this new reality. Those who know my Marina know that she took her role as primary caregiver to her mother seriously and effortlessly made her a priority. My family and I appreciate your kind words, wishes and support during difficult time. Please leave stories and memories you had with my mother as well, I know there are so many and are here to share all the love she gave and received.
Funeral Arrangements are pending on her arrival home. Details will be shared as they are confirmed.
