Marilyn Muniz

It is with the deepest sadness that we are writing this today. Marilyn was only 34 years old and this feels like an absolute nightmare. On Friday, January 13th, 2023 Marilyn suffered an asthma attack which led to cardiac arrest and left her without oxygen for roughly 7-10 minutes. This ultimately caused no brain function and she was placed on life support. Marilyn's daughter Eliza quickly reacted by calling 911 and performing CPR on her mother at 5 am. EMS tirelessly worked for twenty minutes before there was any response and Marilyn was rushed to the hospital.

During the chaos, Eliza still ensured to go to school and stay focused on her studies. She remained collected and has been a pillar of love through the entire process. On Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 Marilyn was taken off life support and was able to save six people's lives through organ donation. Her tragic demise has left so many people confused, distraught and heartbroken. Nobody ever deserves to have their life cut this short and no child deserves to be without a mother.

To know Marilyn was to love her. She was the life of any party. She was funny, charismatic and witty. She was hardworking and loyal. In true cancerian form, she loved her people hard and she would give her last for anyone who needed it. She was selfless and giving to a fault. She lit up every room she stepped into. Marilyn loved Eliza more than anything in this world and was an amazing dog mom.

Marilyn moved from The Bronx to Ohio in 2019 to give her daughter a life she never had. Eliza has been able to learn to play the cello and is a part of her school band. She's a cheerleader and a member of the tumbling and volleyball teams and most importantly, she's a straight-A student, being on the honor roll her whole life. Marilyn sacrificed working two jobs to ensure Eliza was able to be a well-rounded and educated young lady. Eliza, being a High School Freshman, has a strong connection to school and has always looked at her studies as a badge of honor. Eliza is deeply broken. She lost her entire world and will now grow up with the pain of losing her mother. Despite any support she will receive, nobody can ever replace her mother and the beautiful bond they shared.

This gofundme has been organized by Marilyn's best friends, Alyssa and Amelia. They were a dynamic trio and love Marilyn so deeply. Their only wish in writing this is that any donations received will be allotted for Eliza to continue her extracurricular activities in school and to be able to guide her through the toughest time of her life. In true Marilyn fashion, we are hoping to continue her legacy by giving her daughter the life her mother fought so hard to give her. Marilyn although your body is no longer physically with us your spirit will live on forever through your family, friends and the six lives you saved. We love you and will never forget your infectious laugh, your bright smile and all the wonderful memories you're leaving us with. Rest in eternal peace. We will take it from here.
