Marilyn Lookado Christmas Eve Passing Family Help

Hi All,

My stepdad and I unfortunately lost my mom unexpectedly this Christmas Eve. She went into the hospital on Monday the 23rd for a procedure to clear arterial blockages in her leg. Although the procedure went okay, while she was in recovery, something went awry and she suffered substantial internal bleeding which led to her going into cardiac arrest. The hospital staff was able to resuscitate her, but only after 15+ minutes of doing CPR and whatnot, which placed her immediately on life support due to the extreme nature of the resuscitation. I was lucky enough to make it from Wyoming to Florida in enough time to be with her and some family when she passed on, which I will forever be grateful for. She passed without pain and surrounded by loved ones. As grateful as I am for things working out as best as they could in that regard, my heart is still absolutely crushed and I am utterly lost.

My mom was the primary caregiver for my stepdad due to him having 2 strokes in 2018. She took care of virtually everything for him, from meals to bills to sorting his medicine for him every day and more. I am now the one who will be taking care of him and all of these responsibilities, because he is the man who raised me growing up and I would not have it any other way, nor would my mom. Her, my stepdad, and I talked every single day and I know this is what she and my stepdad always wanted - for me to be the one to take over his care, God forbid anything like this ever happened.

I am doing my best to put my pride aside and ask for some help here with this fundraiser. I will be taking a leave from work for a while to handle my parents' affairs, so I will not be bringing in any sort of income for the foreseeable future until I get back to work, as well as handle more of my mom's affairs and benefits she left behind for us.

The next few months will be tough for us with all of the upcoming expenses, so I am just kindly asking for anyone’s support who can possibly help.

Either way, I love and appreciate everyone whether they can help financially or not, or even offer just emotional support or a kind word to myself and my stepdad during this very hard time. Anything is so very much appreciated from the bottom of our hearts

In regards to my mom's services, we still don't have any definitive plans yet, but I will keep all of my contacts updated as I know more and more and post an update to here, as well as my social media accounts
