Hi, I’m Marilyn. I’m usually a full time Registered Nurse. I have been taking care of babies and children for 36 years. In May, 2020, I came down with COVID that I had caught from a patient. This was back when we healthcare providers were required to wear our PPE for a week. In the South, that means it got hot and sweaty which drew the virus. Before I knew it, I was SICK! Even though I had all the symptoms of COVID, the tests at that time weren’t great and they all came back negative. Finally an antibody screen was positive weeks later. But I was still sick.
I had terrible headaches, dizziness, no appetite, no energy, kidney failure, and I began to fall…a lot. So much so that eventually my primary care physician, my daughter, and my sister decided I needed to leave my apartment, give away my cat , and move to Georgia with my sister. During this time I had to quit my dream job working with kids from St. Jude and start living on my late husband’s social security.
A few weeks ago I fell, hitting my jaw on my night stand. As you can see, I broke my front 2 teeth. What you can’t see is that I ended up having 8 additional teeth pulled, 2 temporary partials placed, and I am awaiting further dental care. I’m very lucky that my dental insurance paid $2000 and I was able to pay $1500. But, in order to get my front teeth repaired, I need a minimum of $2800. That doesn’t include the extra $3000 something in January for my permanent partials. I had to go the route of partials because implants would have been over $30,000. So, I am asking for the money to get my front teeth fixed and a little extra to pay a deposit on the permanent partials.
Please help! Every dollar makes a huge difference.
Update: As of 7/18/22, I have COVID-19 again! I really don’t know how. I go to the dentist and the doctor. I never go out in public, but nonetheless, I have it. Since I’m high risk due to kidney failure caused by the last Covid, I was able to get the monoclonal antibody yesterday. I sure hope it kicks in soon!
Update: 7/30/2022. I am better. I have not received anywhere near the donations that I need. I changed the photo because I can’t stand to see my teeth. This isn’t just for cosmetic reasons. I am trying to start a new nursing position part time from home. It is videoconferencing with patients. I can’t possibly do that with my teeth like this. Please help me if you can. Also, for my wonderful friends who have made donations, please know the money will be kept in savings until I can get together what I need to get this work done. I am so grateful to you who have made donations.
