Help Marilennys get treatment for her cancer

Soy una madre de 25 años buscando apoyo para seguir con mi tratamiento en la República Dominicana. Tengo cáncer de etapa cuatro; he vivido en los EEUU y tengo que regresar a mi país para poder estar junto con mis hijos.

En el 2022, en mi país me diagnosticaron con un cáncer curable. Recibí quimioterapia y los doctores me dijeron que ya estaba sana. Vine a Massachusetts en el 2023 para buscar mejores oportunidades y para poder apoyar a mis tres hijos jóvenes en mi país. Dos semanas después de llegar me dió un dolor fuerte. Fui al médico y me dijeron que el cáncer había vuelto y que estaba en una etapa avanzada. Tuve que someterme al tratamiento y no pude trabajar.

Durante los últimos dos años he seguido con varios tratamientos, siempre con la esperanza de recuperar mi salud y poder cumplir con mis metas aquí en este país. El febrero 10 de este año el papá de mis hijos falleció debido a complicaciones de diabetes. En el mismo mes yo caí en el hospital con mucho dolor; el tratamiento ya no funcionaba para controlar el cáncer. Me tuvieron que colocar tubos en los riñones y bolsas para coleccionar la orina porque el cáncer avanzó mucho. Se hizo metástasis en los nódulos linfáticos y en el hígado. Estoy recibiendo un último tratamiento pero la doctora aquí me da solamente meses de vida.

Tengo mucha fé que habrá un milagro pero ya quiero estar con mis hijos. Voy a viajar lo más pronto posible, espero poder vivir el tiempo que me quede con ellos. Busco ayuda para poder cubrir los gastos de mi cuidado médico, y para ayudarnos con los gastos diarios como no puedo trabajar.

I am a 25-year-old mother looking for help to pay for my treatment in the Dominican Republic. I have stage IV cancer and have lived in the US and have to go back to my country to be with my sons.

In 2022, in my country, I was diagnosed with curable cancer. I had chemotherapy and my doctors told me that I was cured. I came to Massachusetts in 2023 looking for better opportunities so I could help support my three young sons back home. Just two weeks after arriving I ended up in the hospital with bad pain. The doctors told me that my cancer had returned and that it was more advanced. I had to start treatment and never got to start working.

During the last two years I have had many, many treatments, always hoping that I can get healthy again so I could do what I came here to do. On February 10th, just two months ago, my sons’ father died from complications of diabetes. That same month I ended up in the hospital again with lots of pain. The treatment wasn’t working anymore. I had to get tubes placed in my kidneys and now have bags to collect my urine. The cancer grew and is now in my lymph nodes and liver. I’m getting one last chemotherapy but the doctor has told me that I have just months to live.

I have a lot of faith and believe in miracles, but I need to go home to be with my sons. I am going to travel as soon as I can and hope to live whatever life I have left with them. I am looking for help to cover the costs of my medical care there, as well as help to pay for the day-to-day expenses since I can’t work.
