If you have been following my recent posts, you may already know that it seems as though I have a cancer recurrence, that has metastasized to my liver. I always live life with a sense of urgency, but this has definitely upped the ante for me.
Whether I'm around or not, my family has committed to finishing this project. I am committed to keep on pursuing my dreams and goals and live life as if I have a future.... I am determined to finish the project.
It's called Otherside - about a woman who goes through a similar but different experience with breast cancer - she survives, but she loses everything in the process, her home, and business due to mounting medical bills.
She travels across the country and leads a pretty nomadic life, drifting from place to place. She is cynical, angry and feels victimized. At her daughter's request, she gets involved with rescuing a pregnant dog and it starts to change her and soften her heart.
She eventually finds her "Stella" dog and the pair form a bond that is undeniable. Things start looking up and both she and Stella finally feel the future has the possibility of something other than fear...when disaster strikes.
She hears about some pit bull dogs that are being held as live evidence after being seized from a dogfighting ring, she agrees to transport them to a rescue facility. The crime syndicate sees their chance to get their dogs back, they force her off the road and take not only their dogs but her "Stella" dog too.
Feeling her world crumble again, she will do anything to save these dogs and her precious Stella. She tracks the dogs using "Stella's" GPS collar in a high stake, cat and mouse chase across the country.
Each of the rescue dogs in the book involves a pit bull and each is based on an actually rescue adventure that we've been involved with - some of you may recognize the dogs that are featured in the manuscript.
Won't it be exciting to go a see this at the movie theatre and know that you had a part in getting it there!
