Mariia and Yurii in need of support

Hello. My name is Nancy Addison. I have been involved in bringing Ukrainians to Jasper and area since the war began in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Among those who have come are Mariia (40 last month) and her son Yurii (19). The two have been working full time in Jasper's TGP store for the past year +. They have integrated into the community well and had happy plans for their future. Three weeks ago Mariia was diagnosed with peritoneal carcinomatosis (ovarian cancer that has metastasized). It has come as a shock and their world has been turned upside down. Mariia is no longer able to work. Today she was admitted to the Seton Hospital.

It is our hope to be able to fly Mariia's 72 year old Mother here from Ukraine to be with her daughter and grandson. They will need her support and companionship. No doubt this will be a stressful and trying time. It is their hope she will be here for Mariia's recovery.

Currently I am looking for someone to accompany Grandmom on this journey. She has never left the country of Ukraine before. There are only the 3 of them in the family and they are very close.

Mariia's hope is that Yurii will, with hard work and perseverence, acheive his permanent residency and eventually his citizenship. She wants him to go to University and achieve all his potential.

I am hoping to pay for a return flight from Warsaw, a companion flight for whoever I can find to come with Mariia's Mom, to cover expenses of the family as they travel between Jasper and the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton as well as living expenses while they go through whatever lies ahead. If there is excess that would go toward paying for Yurii's education.
