Cremation for Marietta Thompson

Donation protected
On Sunday, April 10th, 2022, we were saddened by the loss of my grandmother, Marietta Thompson; or Mammaw, as many knew and claimed her to be. She was a one-of-a-kind woman who enjoyed laughing, writing, gardening, fishing, as well as watching her favorite tv shows; honestly, though, she was the one that could find light and joy in anything she did. She never met a stranger, and if a joke could be made, you could bet that she would be the one to make it. Mammaw was a very caring and spiritual person who believed that once she passed, her spirit would be in a better place, that all that would be left earthside is a shell of a being that once was. We will honor her wishes of being cremated and then placed upon her mother's grave with no services. Mammaw once had a cremation policy valued at $1600. Since her passing, we have learned that about 11 years ago, she used her cremation funds to help the family of a special friend. Her childhood friend of 70 years had passed, and with the family unable to afford the burial, Mammaw felt it was the right thing to do and, with no regrets, used her policy to help pay for the services. From there, it is unknown why another policy was never set up. The loss of our Mammaw has been soul-crushing and overwhelming; now, we are facing the financial hardship of cremation. Every donation, thought, and prayer is appreciated beyond words.
