Hi, my name is Marielle. I am currently a Junior at John Swett High School. Recently, I was nominated by my teachers and accepted to travel abroad with Global Glimpse. I am one of eight students at my school who will be traveling to Nicaragua or the Dominican Republic for three weeks this summer.

While there, I'll participate in projects such as English tutoring for locals, developing and implementing a community project, shadowing a high school student, and working like a local. I'll learn first-hand about the country's history, culture, and entrepreneurship by meeting community leaders, spending a day with a local family, and visiting local businesses.

This is such an amazing opportunity to push my education beyond the classroom and into the world! I look forward to being pushed out of my comfort zone. I'll be gaining valuable leadership skills and knowledge to help me become a stronger candidate for college. Most of all, I hope to make a difference in the lives of the people I meet there.
