Mariela and family are extremely thankful for all the thoughts and prayers received since late November 2023 when she was rushed to the hospital due to her cardiac symptoms. During her stay, she was diagnosed with COVID and her cardiac symptoms worsened, heightening the urgency to address a heart defect she was born with- a Bicuspid Aortic Valve. Soon after the New Year, on January 4, 2024, Mariela underwent open heart surgery to have a valve replacement done. Mariela awaited this surgery with nervousness, but prayed to God to give her the strength and courage she needed to overcome this challenge. Thanks to God, Mariela is now back home with her family and will be in recovery for the next 3 months. She is under strict orders from the Doctor and Nurses to rest and take it easy. As you all know, Mariela is an extremely hard worker and doesn’t know when to take a break! This fundraiser is intended to help Mariela with her monthly expenses, as she is unable to work for the next 3 months.
