Celebrating Marie’s Life

Sweet and loving, yet strong-minded with a bold personality. Marie was a wonderful wife and a caring mother to her three children: Mark, Monica, and Matthew. Marie, or Tita (The Filipino term for “Auntie”) Marie, as we liked to call her, had a pure heart and a young soul. She was a hard-working woman that dedicated her life for the betterment of her children’s lives. She was, what you would call, a “cool mom” -- easy to get along with and treated you as one of her own. She was a healthy lady who, unfortunately, at the age of 44, was struck with a severe hemorrhagic stroke on January 12, 2015.

Ever since that event, our lives had changed. Tita Marie was disabled and this affected the lives of many. The loss of her job was hard on her children, financially and emotionally. Still, with God’s grace, she and her children remained strong. Tita Marie, and her family, sought stroke rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and dialysis treatments as she endured this tremendous battle.

With her fighting spirit, children’s care, and God’s sovereignty, Tita Marie was able to live four more memorable years of life. She was able to see Mark go on missions trips, Monica graduate, and Matthew enter, high school. Sadly, on March 08, 2019, she had suffered another stroke, which put her in a coma. She was rushed to the hospital and treated with the utmost care but, on March 24, 2019, Tita Marie had passed and was called home by her loving Father in heaven. Through God’s goodness, we were graced, not only with a wonderful woman, but also an illustration of unconditional love.

The purpose of this GoFundMe page is to help lighten the load on the Herrera siblings and family, as they make decisions and prepare for Tita Marie’s funeral. Thankfully, we do have coverage for the basic necessities of the funeral (eg. plot and casket). The funds raised from this GFM will go towards additional costs for the funeral (eg. viewing ceremony and burial services). Please take this time to consider donating to Tita Marie’s GFM, so we can assist the Herrera family and give Tita Marie the burial she deserves.
